When presented with a perfectly prepared cup of tea, this is one approach you can take.
觀色 Guānsè Appreciate the colour of the liquor, which may vary from a pale green, through golden yellow, to a deep red or brown.
聞香 Wénxiāng Lift the cup to your nose to smell the fragrance of the tea. Tea may smell of flowers, or of fruit; of fish or of meat; of leaves or of earth.
賞味 Shǎngwèi Take a sip. Savour the fragrance on your tongue. Some flavour of some teas will fill your mouth all the way to the back of your throat.
This is not dissimilar to the process of wine tasting.
